Literally hidden in the valley that has given its name and surrounded by the opulent elevations of La Sierra Cristal, Mayari rests on the fertile banks of its river, a few kilometers before it pours its water on the largest bay in Cuba, La Bahia de Nipe. It's a quaint dot on the map where the locals still say things like, 'I saw you last night walking up and down on the front street' or 'Sofia, Lelis niece, lives in the back street.'
